is a profoundly relaxing therapy that helps settle the nervous system and bring people out of states of anxiety and fight-or-flight.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) is a profoundly relaxing Therapy that helps to settle the Nervous System; and can bring people out of states of Anxiety & Fight or Flight. It is a light-touch hands-on therapy that enhances the body’s natural capacity for healing.

I have been working with bodies since 1998 and have been practicing BCST since 2002.  I work in a way that is trauma-informed, and I am committed to encouraging your body as it releases restrictions that traditional therapy are unable to overcome. I track the ebb and flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid throughout its journey from the brain to the tailbone and back. I listen with my hands to the flexion and extension phases of the bones of your cranium and body. I can feel patterns of tension in your tissues, and I listen to your body’s responses and allow it to unwind, release, and reorganize in a deeply intelligent way. In the process, you get the opportunity to experience the release of pain, traumatic energy, and negative emotion in a way that is non-invasive and completely nurturing!

CranialJones LLC offers Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) sessions in Centennial, Colorado, serving the greater Denver metro area including Greenwood Village, Highlands Ranch, Englewood, and Aurora. Led by Cathy Jones, RCST® and LMT, each session is a deeply personalized, trauma-informed experience designed to help regulate the nervous system, reduce chronic and acute pain, and support the resolution of physical and emotional trauma.

If you are struggling with headaches, jaw tension, neck and shoulder tightness, low back or pelvic pain, digestive issues, poor sleep, overwhelm, or chronic stress, you are not alone. Many people spend their days trying to function through discomfort while caring for work, home, and everyone around them. Over time, unresolved stress and trauma can affect not only the body, but also mood, focus, relationships, and the ability to feel grounded or at ease.

Cathy works with clients throughout Centennial and the Denver area who are ready to feel supported on a deeper level and reconnect with the health that already exists within their system. Her approach focuses on helping the nervous system regulate naturally while also encouraging greater body awareness, emotional resilience, and trust in your own inner wisdom.

Each BCST session begins with a conversation about what you are experiencing physically, emotionally, and within your nervous system. Sessions are fully clothed and begin seated until you feel ready to transition to the massage table. Through gentle contact with one or more areas of the body, Cathy listens to the subtle rhythms and expressions of your nervous system, tracking changes and following the body’s natural priorities for healing. This work is deeply relational, trauma-informed, and always paced according to your comfort and readiness. You are invited to feel seen, heard, supported, and “safe enough” to relax deeply into the experience.

Cathy believes that even seemingly small symptoms can often be connected to years of accumulated stress, trauma, or dysfunction, and that the body has an incredible capacity for healing when given the right support. Her work is centered around helping clients slow down, reconnect to themselves, and begin feeling more regulated, grounded, and whole again.

If you are located in Centennial, Denver, or the greater South Metro Colorado area and are ready to explore what Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy can do for your body and nervous system, Cathy is currently accepting new clients.

How Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy Can Help You Feel Better

This experience can be Profoundly Transformational!

What is Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST)?

BCST is a non-invasive, hands-on therapy that encourages the body’s natural healing capabilities. It has been shown to effectively treat a broad spectrum of physiological issues associated with pain and the loss of systemic, bio-mechanical, and emotional well-being/function. In essence, The Craniosacral Therapist supports the body in releasing restrictions that it has been unable to address on its own. This differs from most other therapies in that the practitioner does not decide where to work; rather, the therapist listens to the body and responds appropriately, allowing it to tell her how to proceed. If we allow a body to let go when it is ready to, it is likely the adjustments will hold longer because the body has made the decision to let go.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists train for many years to be able to detect and track subtle motions within the body. Within these motions, we can detect restrictions throughout the body in bone, fluid, and tissues, as well as The Central Nervous System (CNS), And we can support the system in releasing those restrictions.

The Central Nervous System (Brain & Spinal Cord) governs the function of all body systems including the Digestive, Endocrine (Hormones), Reproductive, Respiratory, Circulatory, Skeletal, Integumentary (skin), Muscular, Organs, Lymphatic and Immune System, etc. So it makes sense that when restrictions release within these systems, the whole body can function more optimally, and the CNS is more able to do its job without interference.

This type of listening encourages the body to unwind intelligently on its own. BCST theory and practice is based on understanding the continuous subtle movements of the cranial bones, the movement of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) throughout the brain and spinal cord, and also the expansion and contraction in the tissues of the body. By using the hands as fine discriminating tools, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapists are able to detect disturbances such as cranial bone restriction, membrane patterns of lesion & densification and other soft tissue restrictions in the body.

Craniosacral has its origins in Osteopathic Medicine, and as with any modality, there are different branches of the work. Cathy was trained in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy, that focuses on creating a more Trauma Informed, Relational Field, that includes waiting for a client to feel Seen, Heard, & Safe Enough to get on a table and be vulnerable. BCST is listening to the health that is always present in the system rather than focusing on symptoms. Trusting that when the body’s needs are met and the conditions are right, the body knows how to orient to it’s own health.

The Craniosacral System: How It Affects Your Health

This system consists of membranous tissues and fluid that surround and protect our brain and spinal cord, as well as the bones they attach to. These membranes reach from the cranial bones, including those of the face and mouth, all the way down to connect at the sacrum (tailbone). They create spaces that allow for the passage of Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) throughout the brain and spinal cord. The health of these tissues is paramount in maintaining the function of the Central Nervous System (CNS).

Our central nervous system governs and responds to everything that happens in our body. It’s pretty easy to recognize then that the health of our Craniosacral System is paramount to our overall health. Craniosacral Therapy releases restrictions within and around the Craniosacral System to renew the flow of (CSF). CSF protects, nourishes, and cleans the CNS and boosts nerve conductivity. Craniosacral Therapy is often used as a preventative measure as it supports the body’s natural healing mechanisms and helps sustain a healthy immune system.

It is very relaxing and, therefore, supports the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), the system that controls our fight or flight responses. It is a great way to support overall health and well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions about Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and BCST Sessions

The History of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Craniosacral Therapy, or CST as it is generally called, has its roots back in the nineteenth century. Originating in Andrew Taylor Still’s system of osteopathic medicine, it owes much to subsequent pioneers of technique, such as William G. Sutherland who extended Stills system into cranial osteopathy. This was refined and codified by Harold Magoun in the 1950’s and taught by him to Dr. John E. Upledger in the late 60’s. We also now credit The Shawnee Indians for teachings they have also contributed to this field. Cathy was trained in BCST by John & Anna Chitty, who trained with Franklyn Sills, the early pioneer in the development of Biodynamic understanding and approach to Craniosacral Therapy.

John E Upledger took on and developed these techniques into what he called ‘Craniosacral Therapy’, a powerful yet simplified system of treatment capable of being learned by anyone of good intent wishing to study the system. The unique feature is that it does not require extensive medical training to be effective. Nonetheless, it embodies and develops the essential concepts of Still and Sutherland. It has evolved in Upledger’s lifetime to become a holistic therapy aimed at assisting the client to employ their own body’s healing capacities and which trusts that all bodies have an inherent intelligence keeping us in equilibrium.

Today, Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy is practiced by trained therapists around the world. Cathy Jones, RCST® has been offering BCST in Centennial, Colorado since 2002, making her one of the most experienced practitioners in the Denver metro area.
